Dreams are not just childish aspirations hidden away and unthought of. Dreams are part of our being and our existence. The majority of people do not follow their dreams because of negative thoughts, worry, fear and a whole host of other things that deter them. However, we should not take our dreams for granted because they are part of our very substance, our path and our life journey. We should importantly learn to acknowledge them and work on fulfilling them.
Here are 5 reasons why you should follow your dreams, take the plunge and do what you are destined to do in life:
1. Life is Unexpected
Death is the only certainty in life and you never know what is going to happen. Don’t have regrets. Seize the moment and embrace all that you are meant to do and accomplish.
2. You Only Have One Shot
You only have one life. And when you look back at it you should be proud of your accomplishments and your journey. This is your one chance to do what you dream of and give it your all. It’s also a chance to give back to the world in so many ways. Make your trip worthwhile.
3. Personal Growth is Rewarding
What is life without personal growth? I would hate to stagnate in a job or in a relationship. Stagnation can be a part of life, but how can you ever achieve your dreams if you’re not growing at all?
Every morning on my way to work I pass by two receptionists who share a desk. It saddens me that every single day they watch movies non-stop at their desks. In fact, I’ve hardly ever seen them work. This situation has really made me wonder. There are so many people out of work who are dying to make something of themselves; so many people would love to have the opportunity that these two ladies have. And yet every single day they waste away on entertainment. Even when I walk past their desk to go out for lunch I notice that they’re still all eyes on a movie, laughing and enjoying themselves. Make no mistake, I know some people who would kill for a job like that. I also know that everyone is different and that not everyone is ambitious or motivated to develop themselves within their job. But what upsets me is that these women don’t even try.
Personal growth is not something that just happens. It is something you have to fight for, something you have to work towards in order to make happen.
At the end of my life I want to say that my fingers were green and that I contributed and made a difference. What will you say?
4. Follow Your Dreams — It May Lead You to New Heights
If you work at your dreams you’ll reach places that you would never have known existed had you not tried. Hard work and dedication can lead you to new heights and wonderful things may occur. I’m not talking about material gain here. I’m talking about feelings, situations and just plain old giving back. If you don’t try then you’ll never know what may have been. My business, WordWorx, would never be in existence if I didn’t dare to dream.
5. You’ll Lead Others
If you aim to follow your goals doggedly and lead your life by these goals, then your determination and passion will hopefully inspire others and rub off on them. You may motivate those who are not motivated and this is particularly rewarding.
Leading a life whereby you strive to reach your dreams day-in and day-out is challenging. But there is plenty to learn and to take in. Enjoy the ride, it’s worth it for sure.
