It’s been some time in the making. I had to face it — my old company name, English Communication, was dull and boring. And too obvious. It had no oomph. It had no pizzazz. It wasn’t me.
I needed something a bit more out there. A bit more bubbly, vibrant, friendly, and O-R-A-N-G-E! After all, I live in the Netherlands. But I didn’t want Dutch orange (sorry Dutchies). I wanted a deeper more sophisticated orange.
Orange is my mother’s colour. She loves orange lipstick. As a child, I hated it and felt it was too over the top. At least on my lips. Still do. But I get my oomph from her. I get my love of writing and structuring texts. Reading out loud. I have her to thank for all of it.
Lately, I’ve been brainstorming and conceptualizing like crazy (together with my mother and hubby — who I drove a bit mad for many evenings on end — and fabulous graphic designer, Geralda van der Es, owner of SPRESSO). I eventually came up with the name ‘WordWorx’ and Geralda came up with the brand colours, logos, and amazing double ‘W’ symbol for ‘Words’ and ‘Worx’ — the intertwining of the letter ‘W’ with what looks like an ‘M’ but is meant to be an upside-down ‘W’. ‘M’ for ‘mom’ or ‘Marlene’).
So yes, mom, you’re in my new logo.
Drum roll, please. Introducing — WordWorx!
