As a copywriter, a lot of my work involves interviewing others. In fact, I’m currently busy with a very large project where I’m conducting many interviews with people all across the globe.
Types of AI Tools for Interviews
In the past, transcription work took me a long time. It often still does. Thankfully, I use a paid Otter.Ai account to work on my transcriptions and speed up the process. Otter.ai is a great tool if accents are clear (which they are often not). But it does indeed help when it comes to structuring the interview and grouping ideas. You’ll see in this screencast I made below that the tool often makes up nonsense (due to accents – even mine…), and I have to tweak or rewrite the outcome. But again, it does help in some way to speed things up (once you get the hang of the tool, that is!).
How do I use AI Tools for Interviews?
After Otter.AI provides an MS Word transcription, I copy this into ChatGTP, asking it to rewrite it more coherently and from a first-person point of view. This is where I gain HUGELY in terms of time. The result = a very cheesy, cliched piece of writing which I have to drastically rewrite for it to become more inspiring and effective. The beauty of ChatGTP is that it can pick up the messy Otter.Ai text and put it into proper sentences, making sense of the Otter.Ai text much quicker than I could ever do. It is not 100% accurate, and I double-check everything (which also takes time). But in terms of the donkey work, it is superb. And the best part ever — these tools allow me to focus on the aspects I love the most as a writer: fine-tuning and crafting a beautiful and inspiring story that appeals to the respective audience.
Added to this, it’s a win-win for my clients since I can work even more efficiently, leading to cost savings (although I do pay for these tools, and I also do a lot of double-checking, which can be time-consuming).
